Experience and expertise
Edward founded Charles Mia in 2004. He has worked in the private wealth and finance industry for over 25 years, having started his legal career in 1992 at Simmons & Simmons in London, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong. In 1998 he joined JP Morgan as general counsel to the private banking and asset management businesses in EMEA and went on to serve as head of the Wealth Advisory business for JP Morgan Private Bank in South East Asia and London, and a member of the related global management committee for JP Morgan Private Bank.
Edward holds an honours degree in Law from the University of Warwick, is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and in Hong Kong and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Edward also serves as Vice Chairman of Alvarium, a global merchant banking and investment firm, and as general counsel of F2 Ventures, a biotech investment platform in Europe and the USA.
Experience and expertise
Mark joined Charles Mia at its inception in 2004, becoming a partner in 2012. He focuses his practice on private client contentious work, dealing with a wide range of situations requiring the highest levels of strategic as well as legal expertise. His main areas of practice focus on complex financial divorce matters, employment law disputes, corporate and commercial disputes and litigation, and trust disputes and litigation. He often has cases involving a number of jurisdictions.
Mark started his legal career practicing in Cape Town and practiced in Singapore before joining Charles Mia in London. He holds a masters of laws, LLB and BA from the University of Cape Town and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales as well as being admitted to the High Court of South Africa. He is a member of Resolution.
Mark was for several years chairman of Lambeth Mediation and is firmly committed to mediation as a way to resolve disputes.
